Heavy rainfall has triggered warnings across all 8 divisions, with risks of flooding and landslides

The Meteorological Department has warned that a well-marked low over the Bay of Bengal and active monsoon winds may cause heavy to very heavy rainfall across all eight divisions of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, over the next 72 hours. Authorities caution about possible landslides in hill areas and waterlogging in Dhaka and Chattogram. Rainfall of 44–88 mm to over 88 mm in 24 hours is expected in different regions.

A well-marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, coupled with active monsoon winds, is set to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across Bangladesh in the coming 72 hours, the Meteorological Department has warned. Dhaka is among the divisions under alert, with authorities also flagging the risks of landslides in hill tracts and severe waterlogging in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The warning, issued Wednesday morning (October 1), forecasts that between 9 a.m. Wednesday and the next 72 hours, parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet may experience rainfall ranging from 44–88 mm to above 88 mm within 24 hours.
