JNU Chhatra Dal Leader Found Dead in Old Dhaka Building; Police Suspect Stabbing

A Jagannath University Chhatra Dal leader, Jubaid Hossain, was found dead with stab wounds in a building in Old Dhaka’s Armanitola area. Police suspect homicide and have started an investigation to uncover the cause and motive behind the murder.

Police have recovered the blood-soaked body of a Jagannath University (JNU) Chhatra Dal leader from a building in Old Dhaka.

According to reports, locals discovered the body on the staircase of a building in the Armanitola-Mahuttuli area on Sunday (October 19) evening and immediately informed the police. Law enforcement officials from Bangshal Police Station later arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

The deceased has been identified as Jubaid Hossain, a student from the 15th batch of Jagannath University. He was also a member of the JNU Chhatra Dal convening committee and served as the President of the Comilla District Student Welfare Association at JNU.

Confirming the incident, Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangshal Police Station, said, “The student appears to have died from stab wounds. He used to teach at a private residence nearby. The cause of death is still under investigation.”

Police have collected evidence from the scene and launched an inquiry to determine the motive and identify those involved in the killing.
